So I’ve been spending the majority of my time this summer engrossed in reading, reading reading….and revising, revising, revising. At times I feel like I have a two sided personality. (I like to call it ‘two sided’ rather than ’split personality’ because is sounds nicer
) A part of me wants to write and have the darn thing finished already but then another part of me doesn’t want to go through the painful revision process. And it is definitely process. It can be likened to exercise. We all want to reap the benefits of exercise but we don’t want to get on the treadmill, press the ’start’ button, and sweat.
I’m just going to have to sweat.
Some days sweating is fun and other days, it’s er…. not so fun, but I know I’m called to write because I haven’t given up yet. Also, when I’m not writing, I find myself engrossed in writerly activities. Either I am in a library, or a bookstore, or scribbling stuff in a journal, or reading a book on the writing craft, or reading a novel (Right now, I’m reading Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’.) If you want to do something but it’s going to take some pain, do it anyway. You’ll be glad you did.
We will all face one of two pains in life: The Pain of Discipline or The Pain of Regret.

Happy New Year Everyone!
Aren’t you ready to hit the ground running this year? I am. To start, I will be working on my goal to read more books!! I joined the 100++ Reading Challenge where I am challenging myself to read at least 100 books this year. I finished reading “My Sister’s Keeper” by Jodi Picoult this morning. It won’t count towards the 2009 challenge since I started reading it in 2008. My first book for 2009 is “The Face” by Angela Hunt. I heard a lot of good stuff about this book so I am starting it today. Be on the lookout for my book reviews.

I’ve been thinking about my New Year’s Goals and I’ve decided to read at least 100 books in 2009. I’ve read about 35 books this year so I am upping the ante in 2009. I joined the 100+ Reading Challenge to hold myself accountable. If you’re thinking about setting some reading goals for yourself, I encourage you to join by clicking here.
You can join the 100+ Reading Challenge anytime as long as you don’t start reading your books prior to 2009. The last day to read all your books is December 31, 2009. Also, all books count: children, YA, non-fiction, etc.
I’ll be posting updates on my progress throughout next year. I’ll read mainly novels since I love to lose myself in a good story. I’ve been a bookworm since forever so I’m excited!!!
2009 is around the corner. Have you considered what you want to accomplish in the New Year?
